Dealing with Anger

ARE YOU A BITTER RESENTFUL ANGRY MUSE?

SOMETIMES I AM.

… TRY THIS:

I’ve done a lot of exploration and self experimentation over the years to find the best solutions to support and transform challenging emotions.

Some of the stuff that comes up in us can be somewhat astounding and it leaves you wondering where it came from. Sometimes a crazy storm that leaves you lost at sea.

A whole lot of old baggage and unconscious cycles can just keep ticking under our nose without us realizing that it is shaping and affecting each moment and our manifestation for the future.

A lot of us are in Adharma Karma, just creating and solidifying patterns of suffering and unconscious behavior.
When we are ready, it can be right now… we can switch instantly into Dharma Karma, a mode of conscious creation that allows unwinding of our samskaras, purification and an increasing freedom and expression of the divine through us.

MY PROCESS

Here’s how I play with it.

… it has to be a play, an exploration, so that we have that freedom to try it and see for ourselves what works. There is no one size fits all in healing.

When I go into dark mode, I can be a true demon. We all can.
When I remember… sometimes I need more reminders….I see how powerful and effective these strategies can be.

RECOGNITION AND ACCEPTANCE

Spend some time in anger if it wants to be heard. The worst thing you can do is resist and reject it, but avoid indulging or creating more of it with thoughts and beliefs.
Instead just feel it and move with it.

Let it stomp, punch and scream without words or meaning IF it needs.

MANTRA:

A stepwise progression.

Repeat each line a few times.

I am angry.

I am aware of my anger

I accept that anger is here right now in my body

I am aware of myself and I am aware of the feeling of anger

I am the spacious presence around this anger.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Sitting or lying and experiencing:

“I recognize and feel the tangible energy of anger inside my body”

“I sense how it is moving and operating this body and driving these thoughts and beliefs”

“It feels …. Insert your experience (hot flaming stiff hard swirling red black prickly)”

“I feel it in the…. insert location (stomach, jaw, neck, inner thighs, hands)”

CREATIVE TRANSFORMATION

Now, opening to nourishing transformation,

Drink a glass of cool water super slowly sip by sip. Feel the cooling purity of the water. Let it trickle down the throat and sooth the fire wherever you feel it within you. The fire is gently being soothed, cooled, calmed, refreshed. Sip by sip.

Check in with how it feels now.

AFFIRMATION

Say to yourself,

“I am open and willing to transform this energy of anger so that I may consciously release all harmful and destructive cycles of suffering within myself, in my family, community and for our children of the future”.

Find your own words and repeat as required until a sense of openness and surrender blooms. Because anger likes to close all our doors. We are trying to open the door for the energy to move.

RESOURCES, ENERGY WORK AND MUDRA

Summon your resources. God, Deities, loved ones, anything that supports, loves and uplifts you.

“I open my being to receive the supportive healing energy of loving kindness. Please come forth and help me to transform and uplift this energy of anger”.

… Repeat this mantra with the left palm up, making a closed cup with fingers together and rounded palm to receive the supportive healing energy of loving kindness and the right palm down, fingers connecting to the earth to allow the challenging energies and feelings to release into the earth, surrendering them to the mother to transform and utilize in her potion of love.

Tune into the energy circuit that you’ve created and feel the movement of energy within you, clearing you, filling you with goodness.

A HELPFUL POSTURE

Lie down on your back in dead frog with a bolster under your solar plexus, upper belly to allow a gentle back bend.
Open the legs wide and straight or slightly bending the knees out to feel a little release in the inner thighs.

Open the arms wide, palms up or elbows bent 90 degrees palms up in white flag surrender.

Feel the breath at the solar plexus in the region of the diaphragm, upper belly, where your liver and solid organs sit. For a few moments allow the feeling of the breath to wash through any fire or hardness in the body, softening the body, including the belly, inner thighs, neck, shoulders, palms, face and eyes.

HEALING VISUALISATION 1

Soften and open the solar plexus and region of the liver, the organ of detoxification, to receive a soft luminous stream of milky white liquid light from the universal mother into your solar plexus and let it trickle slowly into your whole body. Soothing it, nourishing it, loving it.

I am receiving love, acceptance, patience, compassion, kindness to nourish and sooth this anger, to allow this energy to feel accepted, supported, cared for, uplifted. Allowing it to transform into softness, forgiveness, optimism, positivity, happiness and relaxation.

HEALING VISUALISATION 2

If you sense residual resistance, hardness or fire within you.

Try this.

Imagine any animal. One that represents the energy of anger for you. See that animal expressing itself. Perhaps a fuming lion or a proud peacock. See it stomping around, skulking, raging. However it feels in you.

And now… take you right palm to face your angry spirit animal. Imagine swirling it anti-clockwise over the image of the animal and see your animal getting smaller and smaller.

… all the way back until it is just the cutest tiniest kitten, bird or cub.

See it in its sweetness, its innocence, its vulnerability. Let it’s cuteness and playfulness bring a smile to your face and a resonance into your heart.

Imagine picking it up, feeling its soft warm tininess and bring it up towards your heart.

Let it rest into your heart, smiling and breathing gently with it, until it falls quietly asleep into your arms.

Rest here.

When you are ready. Notice how you are feeling now.

HEALING POWER OF MUSIC

Finally, If you want to experience the healing power of music and how it can support and transform our experiences,

play Ong Namo by Snatam Kaur and relax palms open in Savasana.

… How do you feel now?

I’m curious for you to try any or all of these techniques and let me know how it feels for you

Lots of love.
